The evil evil Pitchfork have released their top 50 albums of 2007. Of the ones on the list that I think deserve a place.
- 30 Caribou - Andorra.
- 11. Jens Lekman - Night falls over Kortedala
- 4. Radiohead - In Rainbows
The albums I would like to listen to.
- 41. Life Without Buildings - Live at the Annandale Hotel
- 19. Feist - The Reminder
The albums that should not be there.
- 27. Arcade Fire - Neon Bible.
- 22. Okkervil River - The Stage Names. I love this band, but feel this album is much weaker than its predecessors
- 39. The White Stripes - Icky Thump. Same ol, same ol from the Stripes.
There was no sign of Future of the Left’s debut “Curses”, or The Shins “Wincing the Night Away” - my personal faves releases of 2007. It seems in 2007 many people continued to enjoy listening to the Arcade Fire. I just can’t understand this.
The Triple J audience has voted on their favourite 2007 albums as well.. Not surprisingly, it was mostly filled with absolute trash, with the exception of Radiohead. Of the JJJ staff picks, Zan Rowe choices are the most reflective of my own picks, further evidence that one day we shall be wed.
Some good albums slated for 2008, including new Magnetic Fields, and local Brisbane artists, the Bell Divers.
