About

A place where I can write irrelevant anecdotes that make me sound like a pretentious git.

Retiring Liberal MP Jackie Kelly states that the Libs distribution of pamphlets which would indicate that the ALP are hand-in-hand with extremist religious fundamentalism was a ‘chaser style prank’ (the Chaser being a group of political and social satirists from Australia who routinely target Australian politicians).

This has to be one of the more ridiculous statement’s of the Australian election campaign. There is no comparison between handing out racist material to smear the opposition for potential political gain, and the work of a comedy group whose purpose is significantly different.

I have noticed a trend when candidates, and the ilk, say something that is not favourable with the public that they meant it ‘as a joke’. If this is their idea of joking, I think Australian politicians need to brush up on their comedy.

  1. Interesting to note that she separated from her husband over this supposed ‘joke’. Didn’t find it so funny afterall it would seem.

  2. Well, she/they now have the legacy of perhaps burying the Liberal party in NSW. So I guess some good has come of it!
